Old laptop hard drive not being read by desktop via USB connection. Anything I'm doing wrong? - i plugged the wrong adapter in my hard drive
I have an old laptop drive of 200 MB, which I am communicating with one of my newer computer with a USB adapter. Ultimately, what I do is for a laptop with Windows XP to boot into DOS to create, to have finished it in a PCMCIA MIDI professional manufacturer, whose work in writing the driver software for Windows 95, and the old hard drive has all the necessary files to it.
From what I can say hard drive adapter itself works fine, because the capabilities of the disk, but none of my computers, that among these are running Windows Me, Windows XP and Windows Vista, the hard disk read or even recognize that he who even if a crash in the software driver for the card when running on Windows ME. What happened here? If the disk is too old, or if there is a BIOS or system files (FAT/FAT32/NTFS IE) incompatibility problem? The old original hard drive to a Toshiba T1950 MS-DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.1.
(Incidentally, the solution does not come as easily as "the hard drive in touch again in the T1950 and access to futurem before "- the T1900 series notebooks have seemingly become known by a problem in the circuit so that the power button, the user must press literally, hundreds if not thousands of times before the laptop product that finally there is a potential solution to the problem of the circuit - see, for example http://www.electronics.dit.ie/staff/bred ... - but it's too late, much less time to judge for myself, and I prefer music with words Welding are making current.)
Moreover, what I think is needed, an IDE adapter to connect, so you can try connecting the player directly on the system disk from my Win ME disk. Are there any foreseeable problems in this direction?

First ... Disks have a lifespan of between 3 to 5 years. The plates are covered with the same material (say) used in the videos ... Material of the magnetic iron oxide. Do not use the last units of iron oxide, but instead of a material with cobalt ... but you can guarantee that the unit of 200 MB with iron oxide.
This material decomposes over time. That's right. You do not have much time, and 200 MB on the hard drive is probably more than 12 years ... About 14 or 15 years. It is likely that the device is too old to properly work harder.
FAT/FAT32/NTFS no compatibility problems, such as flash drives and external hard drives are formatted FAT modern are as compatible as possible with all systems.
If the disc works, it would then be possible to read. You'd better copy of Windows 95 from eBay and install a new hard drive for use with the PCMCIA card Noon. In fact, why not partition current and dual-boot with Windows XP and Windows 95, so Iu can easily and at any time to restart and use the card?
End of line
The old hardware systems can not compete for new systems are very organic b'cos very respectful
Versions of the new.
